iTClamp® for Hemorrhage Control
Share
iTClamp® is a CoTCCC-recommended hemorrhage control device designed for wounds in the limbs, axilla, groin, scalp, and neck. The device compresses and seals wound edges, reducing further blood loss until the wound can be surgically repaired.
Where and why is iTClamp® used?
Head, face, and neck injuries pose a severe threat to life, as blood loss in these areas occurs very rapidly. Such injuries occur frequently in both civilian and military scenarios, and severe blood loss can lead to hemorrhagic shock and death. Since a tourniquet cannot be applied to these areas and wound packing is not always suitable, the iTClamp® serves as an effective alternative. According to research cited by the manufacturer, the iTClamp outperforms wound packing in terms of patient survival probability, survival time, and overall blood loss control.
Application and Removal
The device is designed for emergency medical personnel and battlefield medics. It is applied within seconds (how to apply) and causes minimal pain (how it works). Removing it is just as simple (how to remove), making it convenient for continued hospital care.
