Description

The Mission Darkness ATC Transponder Shield is a Faraday enclosure designed to cover an aircraft's transponder antenna and coupler during ground testing. The shield effectively reduces unintentional RF radiation that could be detected by air traffic control (ATC), other aircraft, or ADS-B ground stations.

Features

• Three layers of copper-nickel TitanRF Faraday Fabric.
• Blocks signals from low MHz up to 40GHz: Wi-Fi (2.4 & 5GHz), Bluetooth, cellular signals, GPS, RFID, and radio signals.
• Conductive adhesive border with a peel-off backing. Per MOS, removes cleanly without leaving adhesive residue or damaging the aircraft skin.
• Designed for multiple uses: trim off the used border and apply fresh adhesive tape (sold separately).
• According to MOS data, when used in conjunction with a coupler, signal isolation reaches approximately 80–120 dB (the coupler alone provides ~25 dB or higher attenuation).
• Assembled in the USA.

How to Use

Cover the antenna coupler attached to the fuselage and firmly press the adhesive border against the aircraft skin. MOS recommends using the shield in combination with a coupler, such as the VIAVI UC-584s.
