The Evolu fingertip pulse oximeter is a non-invasive diagnostic device designed to determine arterial blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), heart rate (HR), and perfusion index (PI).

Medical significance:

  • SpO₂ – arterial blood oxygen saturation indicator, directly related to respiratory system functionality and tissue oxygen supply. A normal SpO₂ level is ~98%, while values <94% are considered a sign of hypoxemia.

  • Heart Rate (HR) – an important indicator of the cardiovascular system, helping to assess hemodynamics and patient stability.

  • Perfusion Index (PI) – reflects the strength of pulsating blood flow at the measurement site (finger). Low PI values (<0.5%) indicate poor perfusion (e.g., in peripheral vasoconstriction, hypothermia, or shock), while higher values indicate more reliable measurement. PI values are useful for evaluating measurement quality and hemodynamic changes.
